7 Horror Tales of Surprise and Gore
I am not generally a fan of horror. Perhaps this is because I see many horror stories as fairly simplistic tales where the bad thing jumps out and yells “Boo”. The promise of a more psychological terror gravitated me toward this book. The first story involves Sonia and her new lake house. She comes home to a crime scene and a missing child. The second story involves a tentacle creature that suddenly arrives and decapitates victims. The third story involves a repeat murderer who doesn’t quite know they are a murderer. I am still working my way through the remaining four stories, but it is clear to me the style of horror and gore that this author provides. Many of these stories are focused around action more than setting. If you are used to horror stories that focus on ambiance and creepy intuition, this book will be a refreshing change. Things move fast in these tales, so don’t skip a single page or else you’ll miss the entire plot line. While this book hasn’t swayed my opinions on the horror genre, it does help remind me that there are some fascinating things you can do with suspense and action. I would recommend this compendium of tales to any horror fan.
