Author: Mary Joy MacKay

The Joy Thieves is Ms. MacKay’s first book. She undertook this project believing that her story is representative of an unacknowledged crime that thousands of U.S. Citizens have fallen victim to. Knowing that bringing this crime into public awareness will greatly help all victims and possibly motivate investigation, she set out in February of 2015 to tell her story.

Mary Joy has been a fine artist since age 4. She does not ever remember a time she was not drawing, coloring, or painting. In high school in Los Angeles, she received a first place honor in an art show that spanned all of the Catholic High Schools in the Los Angeles area. That honor led to a weekend scholarship to Otis, one of the most prestigious fine art colleges in the United States.

Mary Joy went on to study fine art at University in Northern Arizona, and while there also pursued a career in graphic design. For the past 20 years she has had numerous clients from all around the world who hire her for branding and graphic design services and/or commissioned pieces of art. Her illustration work has been published in two books and one magazine article.

“As a writer and an artist, my aspiration is to inspire and infuse the world with more honesty and more beauty. I truly believe that the heart and spirit can be illuminated and lifted by viewing, hearing or reading a heartfelt work.”
